Happy Mother's Day

My Mother's Day actually began on Saturday. Rory had been telling me for days that he was going to have Daddy take him to a jewelry store on Mother's Day and buy me a diamond necklace. So on Saturday, that's what they did :) Well, Target, not a jewelry store, but still...it's a very pretty necklace and they look enough like diamonds for me!

We spent Sunday at the lake with friends who have a boat. Rory was very excited about the idea of riding on a boat, although it turned out he didn't like it much once he was out there. Daisy loved the boat ride. She fell right asleep :)

Rory did love playing in the water though, which I was impressed with. He's usually afraid of water and even bath time can be a struggle, but he had a blast playing in the lake and wasn't afraid at all! We could barely drag him out of the water.

Daisy enjoyed digging in the sand (and occasionally throwing it).

She was a little less sure about how much fun the water was, but she did get in and play. She also fell once and her head went under before Ben could fish her out. She cried and spent several minutes afterward telling me and one of my friends, "Daddy. Fall. Water," over and over.

Over all it was a great day. Just hanging out on the beach and relaxing and playing. Daisy was cracking me up all day long with all kinds of new words and phrases. She kept putting one of the other kids' floaty tubes over her head and turning to me, making a face, and saying, "I funny!" She ate easily four times as much as any other kid, and at one point was singing to her cookie, "Tinkle tinkle cookie!" and "Baa baa cookie!" and then she would burst out laughing.

I've been meaning to comment on this post for awhile - what a fabulous way to spend Mother's Day! I'm so ready for summer weather here.

Rory's gift to you was so sweet! I hope Daisy has forgotten about falling in the water by now. The "Twinkle Cookie" story is funny - Anya likes to sing "Twinkle twinkle little floor/Daddy/whatever is around her at the time" and then crack up, too.
